Reopening of School Plan 2020-2021

Current status of our reopening of School Plan 2020-2021   Updated January 29, 2021
Hello Parents and students!
We are happy to announce that Desert Adventist Academy has been granted a waiver to reopen for in-class instruction by the Riverside County Department of Public Health.  Grades K-6th are a part of the reopening plan. Classes resumed on Monday, October 5th, 2020 for those families that wish to return to in-class instruction. We are open and follow the reopening plan as agreed to by the County of Riverside DPH and the new Reopening In-Person Instruction Framework & Public Health Guidance for K-12 Schools in California for the 2020-2021 School Year. Updated January 14th, 2021.
For Grades 7th & 8th, DAA was allowed to accept students for in-class instruction beginning on Tuesday, October 6th. The main reason for the difference is that the county has established a different set of guidelines for Grades 7 and above. Under the Blueprint for a Safer Economy as established by Governor Newsome, we will be following this plan with a modification that is allowed in the Blueprint for a Safer Economy. The main difference for grades 7th & 8th is that the return for in-class instruction will be permitted based on the COUNTY Tier Assignments. The Tier assignments are Level-1 “Widespread-Purple”, Level-2 “Substantial-Red”, Level-3 “Moderate-Orange”, and Level 4 “Minimal-Yellow” when measuring the number of daily new cases and the percent positivity rate of COVID-19. When Riverside County is in Tier 2 or Higher, these guidelines will apply to all schools:
  • Schools in the Widespread (purple) tier aren’t permitted to reopen for in-person instruction, unless they receive a waiver from their local health department for TK-6 grades.
  • Schools can reopen for in-person instruction once their county has been in the Substantial (red) tier for at least two weeks. Schools must follow these guidelines when they reopen or if they have to close again.
As previously noted, many factors play a part in Desert Adventist Academy being able to stay open for in-class instruction. Many efforts are being implemented to ensure the children are safe, including but not limited to; personal protective equipment, grouping, social distancing and the use of masks. Desert Adventist is putting its full support behind in person instruction, and is working hard to implement measures for student, and staff safety. Please find listed on our COVID-19 webpage located inside the ABOUT page of our website the links to procedures and protocols Desert Adventist Academy is using for in-person education for students and staff on our campus.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding. I pray that all of our families stay safe and healthy,  please remember, that God will see us through.
Anthony Ross,
School Board Chairman
